Hyundai unveils the all-new Ioniq 6 EV sedan

Hyundai has introduced the all-new Ioniq 6 EV sedan that shares its E-GMP platform with the Ioniq 5 crossover/hatchback. The Ioniq 6 is known by Hyundai as the Streamliner due to the car's low 0.21 drag coefficient which has numerous advantages most notably the "swoopy" design. The low drag numbers should also allow the Ioniq 6 to have increased range over it's Ioniq 5 brethren. While specifics weren't given, expect numbers similar to the Ioniq 5 with a single-motor version (225 hp, 258 lb/ft, of torque) or dual-motor versions (320 hp, 446 lb/ft. of torque, 0-60 in about 5 sec.) with at least 300 miles of range with the larger battery and single-motor setup. The Ioniq 6 should also offer the Ioniq 5 GT's dual-motor option (about 450 hp) at some point. You can also expect Hyundai's fast charging system that allows the EV to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes with a 350-kW charger. Again, specifics weren't given but this is what you can buy at your local dealer now (inventory willing) in the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 6 is a good-looking, seemingly mid-size sedan that screams aerodynamics. The tail is especially nice while the interior provides a "cocoon-like" atmosphere with dual dash screens and adjustable ambient lighting. Sustainable materials are used when possible, so don't expect Corinthian leather unless it's recycled. Note that the dash includes screens for rear-view side mirrors which are legal in most places, except the US. Maybe by the time this one comes out (next year?), we can have the good tech which improves aerodynamics. A lot to like here.
